Sorry, this page is under construction. Basically, it's waiting for me to get around to taking some pictures of my table! In the meantime, here's a text only version...

I had been planning to get a glass topped, metal frame dining table for years. But I had never managed to find one that I either liked or could afford! One of the shops that came closest was 'Under the Moon' in Kingston upon Thames. They had some fantastic chairs but the tables just weren't quite what I was after. Talking to the guy in the shop, it turns out that they produce all their own iron framed beds and occasionally do tables as well. So if I could come up with a design then they could build it for me.

It took a few months to finally settle on a design that I was happy with and that they could build without it being too expensive or unstable. It could probably have been done in a couple of weeks if I'd tried but it kept dropping to the bottom of my lists of things that need doing :-(. Luckily I didn't need to design the chairs as well otherwise it would probably haven take a few years!

Anyway, in late November 2002, one self-designed and custom built table, and a set of Italian made 'long back' chairs to go with it were finally ready to be delivered. The legs had to be detached from the table to get it through my flat (making sure they could do that was about the hardest part of the design!). And I had to tidy up and move my computer out of the way. But I do now have a dining table for the first time in five years :-).
